Tomorrow’s Eksley Bridge clash at The Friary Ground is back on after it was discovered that the referee went to the wrong ground by accident, visiting the waterlogged home of Eksley Rugby Club by mistake.
It only came to light after the disgruntled Eksley Bridge Rovers chairman telephoned the referee in question to complain about the decision, only to be told by him that not only was he unhappy with the amount of standing water, but he couldn’t believe the pitch still had rugby posts and markings in place.
Middle Ripsley officials have now got to try to contact the MRFC matchday squad, who’d been given the day off as a result, and tell them that they have a match tomorrow after all.
